vanillacat1 Amazing. I'm a big fan of Lloyd Alexander's "Prydain" books and found this album through avenues of interest and chance. At first, thought it was just going to be a well-made and engaging novelty; it's not, it's amazing! And it gets even better every time I listen! Would be very interested in a continuation of the chronicles!

about

CD AVAILABLE AT SPECIAL PRICE -> MERCH!!!

An abundance of Metal operas has been around for years - and Ayreon, Avantasia, Missa Mercuria, to name just the most familiar and popular, have raised the bar for the genre with each release. But LUCID DREAMING have not chosen exactly the same path as the mentioned bands - LUCID DREAMING combine Power Metal with some folkloristic elements, turning the result into a unique experience. Their first album "The Chronicles Pt. I" (and certainly, there are a lot more albums in the pipeline) is a convincing output of this remarkable, one-of-a-kind style. Elvenpath guitarist Till Oberboßel had a vision of a personal project with various singers for quite a while, and now he has finally come to realise it with LUCID DREAMING. The work focuses on the first two books of the Fantasy pentalogy "The Chronicles of Prydain“, a story dealing with motifs from Welsh mythology, written by Lloyd Alexander. Apart from the vocalists acting as the Prydain characters, some gifted musicians can be found in the instrumental department: Philipp Koch (Synchronic, Opalessence) behind the drum kit, and guitarists Michael Petrick (Synchronic) and Oliver Rossow (Elvenpath) delivered most of the soli, with Oberboßel playing all other instruments himself! But there are also a lot of well-known vocal artists participating: among others, Alexx Stahl (Roxxcalibur), Jutta Weinhold (ex-Zed Yago, Jutta Weinhold Band), Thassilo Herbert (Dragonsfire), and Leo Stivala (Forsaken) contribute their fair share to the musical happenings. Due to the plethora of musicians and singers, the recordings were done in various studios in diverse countries. Still, the mixing and mastering were executed in the well-known Kohlekeller-Studios - on said premises, Powerwolf, Viron, Crematory, and Agathodaimon (to name a few) had also honed their album sounds to perfection. LUCID DREAMING do not blow up their sound with over-produced keyboards and also do not care for thousands of effects - they simply limit themselves to the classic structures of Power Metal: guitars, bass, and drums, plus driving rhythms. That distinguishes them from current competitors - and it is a proof that this project has a right to exist.

about

Lucid Dreaming Frankfurt, Germany

The phenomenon of lucid dreaming came up in the ancient world already, with Aristotle being among the first people to mention it - but serious research on that topic did not really start until the middle of the 18th century. Still, many scientists considered reports on that field to be nonsense. So, a band project sailing under that name is a token of a lot of (musical) imagination... ... more
